What did dear Bruno Taut have to say about the spirituality in architecture?

Well off course that architecture has to embody social and spiritual meaning – architecture as the physical manifestation of an idea. Architecture is cool people!

“For the true man all things material, every natural thing, everything visible in the world is more than just that. These things are just as much life or spirit as the man is, for to stone, wind, water, or electrical spark jumps, the wave dances, and the rock stands defiant-and all these are not mere figures of speech but are characteristics that are related to us in the most profound way. Every “thing” in the world is not merely a “thing”, for everything lives-and lives in the fullest sense, since it speaks to us in its own way.”

Bruno Taut (1880-1938), from “The Crystal Chain Letters”
