DAVIDSON

Project type

Family Home

Location

Davidson, North Carolina

DAVIDSON - The client wanted a passive, energy-efficient house with renewable on-site energy. These modern amenities are juxtaposed with a Victorian style inspired by London, where the family moved from not too long ago. The form of the house is straightforward. In its symmetry, it features two staircases. The northern balcony opens into the upstairs loft, allowing north light through the extensive, two-story living room. The living room continues light flow as it opens to the front and back yards. This way, one can feel connected to the outdoors from almost any point of the house. The only areas that do not receive natural light are walk-in closets, one bathroom, and a mechanical room. The eleven-acre property on which the home sits spans until the Davidson Country Club and was previously a children's horse riding therapy retreat. The current owners keep and ride horses on the property as well.
