A joint venture between Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, the town of Davidson, a local church and Parks and Recreation, the proposed facility includes renovations to the existing school and conversion of the historic gymnasium into a new dining area and event center. Community meetings helped determine the program, site plan and design character of the project.
The design allows multiple groups to utilize the facility in a way that maintains security of the school, provides an accessible community center throughout the day, and gives the church a much needed expansion. This mixed-use facility provided substantial short and long term cost savings for all parties and positively contributed back to the community.
